Five Free Business Apps
The workplace has changed a lot recently and there are sure to be more changes to come. You don’t just work from a desk in a building with 10 other companies anymore. You’re working from the plane on the way to your next big meeting, at the restaurant where you’re interviewing a potential client or maybe you always work from the comfort of your home office. No matter where you do it, these apps are must-haves for working on the go. The best part? They’re all FREE!
If you don’t have Dropbox installed on all of your devices, you’re seriously missing out. This great app allows you to take your documents, pictures, and videos everywhere you go without taking up valuable real estate in your smartphone or tablet’s hard drive. Need to change something on the go? No Problem! Edit your picture or document, upload the new version to your Dropbox app, and the new version is waiting for you when you get back to your computer. This app also eliminates the hassle of emailing attachments back and forth between team members. The Go Be Social Media team uses Dropbox every day!
2. WUNDERLIST
You’re busy – We get that. Keeping track of your tasks, your employees’ tasks, the kids’ practices, and remembering to pick up the dry cleaning is a heavy job. Insert Wunderlist. This easy-to-use app is the perfect list maker! You can set deadlines, recurring tasks, and receive notifications for everything from the dinner date with your other half to the year-end presentation coming up. What’s more is that you can separate all these lists, share them with colleagues, and sync your lists across all your devices.
3. 30/30
This has got to be one of the best productivity apps around, especially for those who are easily distracted. The 30/30 app helps you schedule your day without spending too much time on one task. Have an article to write? Just set the timer for 45 minutes (or however long you need, down to the seconds), and go! Knowing you have a minute to minute deadline is an excellent motivator for those who work better under pressure. You can even schedule recurring tasks and breaks. For example, if you set the app to work for 50 minutes and take a break for 10, then you can go all day with a 10 minute break every hour. Like the others we’ve mentioned, the app syncs across your devices.
4. PAPER by FIFTY-THREE
Are you the creative type? Then you need this app. It’s essentially a sketchpad for your iPad. Designers, artists, and many others are taking advantage of this app to jot down ideas, create new designs, or even just record inspiration as it happens. You can create different notebooks/journals and add as many pages as you want to draw on. The “draw” tool comes free, but you can buy other tools through the app such as pencils, paint brushes and color mixers to really boost your creativity. You can also instantly email your pages to friends or even share your ideas on facebook and twitter so it’s a fun way to collaborate with your team.
5. FRESHBOOKS CLOUD ACCOUNTING
Are you just getting started in your business? Or maybe your team works all over the country? The FreshBooks Cloud Accounting app is just what you need to keep your company’s finances in order. You can send invoices, record expenses, track time, and get paid all in one app. It’s completely secure and your data is still accessible everywhere so you can work when and where you need to. It’s very easy to use too, so you don’t have to have a fancy accounting degree to use it, but if you get stuck it is supported by customer service via phone or email! You basically have an accountant in your pocket!
